In perfumery vocabulary, Tonka Bean Absolute is associated with coumarinic, sweet hay, almond-like, vanillic, tobacco-like and warm. Its creative role is a deep base-note material with architectural presence, giving structure and character to complex accords.
In the organ, use it to build fougère foundations, enrich amber and tobacco accords and introduce almond-hay warmth in sophisticated gourmands. As base note, it offers signature rather than mere theme.
Absolute extraction preserves a broad, saturated portrait of the source. Traditionally, fragrant biomass is first solvent-extracted and the resulting concrete or resinoid is purified with alcohol, giving perfumers a dense material rich in less-volatile facets.
