In perfumery vocabulary, Moss MD Bottom Fraction is associated with dark earthy, phenolic, smoky, woody, leathery and mineral. Its creative role is a deep base-note material with architectural presence, giving structure and character to complex accords.
In the organ, use it to build deepen leather bases, enrich add shadow to patchouli and introduce build smoky forest accords. As base note, it offers signature rather than mere theme.
Fractionation isolates a particular register of a larger material. Heads and terpene cuts tend toward lift; hearts focus the central identity; body and bottom cuts gather weight, shadow and less-volatile depth. Molecular or short-path distillation selects the profile under high vacuum, often refining colour and separating lighter from heavier registers. A bottom cut explores the darker, heavier and less-volatile end of the material.
